2nd place at ELMS

A motorsports enthusiast since his childhood, Jean-Eric Vergne (JEV) began his driving career in a go kart, at the age of 4. He was crowned National Champion in 2007 (Formula Campus) and in 2008 (Formula Renault). At the age of 20, the French driver won the British F3 Championship, the antechamber of Formula 1. He then became the youngest French driver in Formula 1 history when he joined Toro Rosso in 2012.

After 3 seasons in the top category, JEV joined the Scuderia Ferrari as a reserve driver but didn’t hesitate to take up the challenge of Formula E. He also joined the new FIA Championship in the third race in Punta del Este, winning the pole position without having tested the car before.

Despite a busy schedule, JEV then entered the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 category before being disqualified for technical irregularities. A blow that didn’t stop the Frenchman, who finished 2nd in the driver ranking and still allowed GDrive Racing to become 2018 Champions.

Present in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship since the 2014-2015 season, of which TAG Heuer is a founding partner, JEV won the title in New York’s streets, on July 14, 2018. Crowned during the 4th season, he became the first French driver to win this title with 4 pole positions, 4 wins, 6 podiums and 54 points ahead of Lucas Di Grassi, his first rival. A first in the history of the championship.

This year, Jean-Éric Vergne is the new FIA Formula E World Champion and ranks 2nd place at ELMS with G-Drive Racing. More determined than ever, the French racer is ready to go faster than ever.

"« It is an honor to be part of the TAG Heuer family. I’ve known this company for a long time now, and I’ve always been attracted by their involvement in motorsport, their performances and their ambition to do things their way. As a driver, I also challenge myself every day, and understand the motto #DontCrackUnderPressure better than anyone else!” Jean-Éric Vergne.
