INDIANAPOLIS 500

A whirlwind of speed and thrills, the mythical Indianapolis 500-Mile race brings together fierce legends and adrenaline-seeking fans since 1911.

With long-standing ties to the motor racing universe and a relentless passion for record-breaking performances on the asphalt, it was only natural for TAG Heuer to partner with the legendary Indy 500.

FOR THE LOVE OF RACING

TAG Heuer

Fuelled by its fondness for motorsports and its renowned timekeeping expertise in competitive racing, TAG Heuer joined the Indy 500 adventure as Official Timekeeper and Scorer in 2004. Throughout nearly two decades, both icons have joined creative forces to create unique, connoisseur timepieces that have become highly sought-after collector’s watches. Today, their passion for speed is as fiery as ever, on the racetrack and the wrist.

LET THE ENGINES ROAR

Indianapolis 500

Held annually since 1911, the Indianapolis 500-Mile race – colloquially dubbed “Indy 500” – stands as one of the three “crown jewels” of global motor racing, alongside Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix. Attracting more than 300k spectators each year and widely considered the world’s largest single-day sporting event, the Indy 500 brings together seasoned racers competing for the trophy in a rare spectacle of dazzling speed and high decibels.

Indianapolis 500

KISS THE BRICKS

Shortly after its creation in 1909, the Indy 500 Speedway was paved with 3.2 million bricks. Though the circuit was entirely covered in asphalt by 1961, a strip of the original bricks was intentionally left intact at the start/finish line. Still today, fans long to watch Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 winners religiously kneel down to kiss the famous ‘Yard of Bricks’ following the tradition initiated by Dale Jarrett after his victorious finish in 1996.

500 MILES OF ENDURANCE

500 miles, 200 laps, and only one harassing day to finish off the race: the Indy 500 has gained mythical status among the world’s best endurance racers who challenge their limits on the famous oval 2.5-mile circuit to claim a staggeringly high prize money. A race for those who dare.

THOUSANDS GATHER EVERY YEAR TO EXPERIENCE THE THRILLS AND SPILLS OF THE INDY 500

The race has its quirky idiosyncrasies that make it unique. One of them is the curious tradition, initiated by victorious driver Louis Meyer in 1933, that every winner must drink a bottle of milk. And the crowd always makes sure they do!

Partnership

WINGS, WHEELS, AND WATCHES

In nearly twenty years of partnership with the event, TAG Heuer has released 17 special edition watches in homage to this exceptional race. Adorned with evocative details such as the Speedway’s iconic “Wings and Wheel” logo or the brickyard motif, these unique watches tell the story of drivers’ relentless thirst for victory on the racetrack. Bold new Indy 500 timepieces regularly breathe fresh creativity into this thriving partnership.
