TAG Heuer x PORSCHE Tangent

A partnership based on authentic heritage

1954 -1963

The Carrera Panamericana was an extremely dangerous road race, a grueling 2000-plus mile race across Mexico. While the event ended after few years, its legacy lives on. Inspired by the strength of its name and spirit, Jack Heuer imagined the first Carrera wristwatch chronograph, released in 1963.

1972

In 1972, Porsche unveiled their own 911 Carrera. The iconic car took to the track at the prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida. From that day on, Porsche and TAG Heuer have pursued the legacy of Carrera — a storied name from the golden age of motorsports.

A pilots Watch

One of the great racers of the 1960s and early 1970s was the Swiss driver Jo Siffert, who claimed his first major victories at Daytona and Sebring in a Porsche 907. Friends with Ferry Porsche, Siffert was also close to Jack Heuer, and wore a Heuer chronograph and logo patch on his overalls at all times when racing.
