The man. The master. The legend.

Juan-Manuel Fangio, aka “El Maestro” (“The Master”), defied the boundaries of time. While racing after age 30 was considered “over the hill,” at age 37 Fangio set out to climb his own mountain and entered the highly competitive, intense world of Formula One. He went on to win five World Championships and is still considered to be the greatest driver of all time.

He rode his first race at age 18 on a dirt road in his native Argentina before his career took off at record speed, winning the most dangerous endurance circuits in history and blazing a path down hazardous roads without help from mechanics or pit stops. He went on to win 24 World Championships at the Grand Prix, 29 pole starts and 48 front row starts, all of which continue to hold the world record to this day. He’s racked up the most World Championships with the most teams in history.

Ever near-death crashes and being kidnapped at gunpoint couldn’t keep this die-hard racer from the track.
