Daniel Ricciardio and Max Verstappen settle in China for the Jiading’s circuit. An event Red Bull Racing team awaits, where Max Verstappen shined this week-end with his first podium in Shanghai. From the 16th position on the start, he accomplished the best come back of the race by overpassing nine cars in one lap and ended up at the third position.

A challenging frame

In 2016, Daniel Ricciardo took a perfect start and held the 1st position from the beginning but drove over accident’s debris on the third lap. Its front left tire deflated and no safety car comes to help. An unfortunate event which brought him to the 17h place. Nevertheless, Ricciardo didn’t withdraw and clawed his way up to the 4th by lap 34.

Shanghai enlighten Mark Weber as well, when running for Red Bull Racing TAG Heuer in 2011. He starts the race at the 18th place and end up on the podium at 3rd position.

"I had to pass everybody, I really earned it. The car put up such a fight and the guys never gave up." said Mark Weber.

A futuristic monolith

The circuit’s Jiading district home is 35km northwest of the beating heart of Shanghai. A relative remoteness which provides comfort for pilots to focus on their race and a stunning location to look at. Surrounded by a lagoon, the racetrack offers long back straight, ideal for unexpected comebacks.
The layout is even inspired by the Chinese character “shang“, meaning “ascend”. A word which suits Red Bull Racing’s team.

An anthem to speed

1.17km of pure straight road. DRS (Drag Reduction System) zones to free all the power of engines. Jiading’s circuit braves both strength and ability of pilots, propelling Formula One’s cars up to 300km/h. Drivers must handle high pressure constantly. Features Verstappen excels in.
