TAG HEUER $1 MILLION DOLLAR HOLE IN ONE CHALLENGE IN SUPPORT OF THE SHANE WARNE FOUNDATION
TAG Heuer’s mantra Don’t Crack Under Pressure was put to the ultimate test at the Australian Masters on Saturday when cricket legend Shane Warne took on the Swiss watchmaker’s One Million Dollar challenge to shoot for a hole-in-one.
With a million dollars at stake for the King of Spin’s Shane Warne Foundation charity and, Warnie called on support from AFL legend, Dermott Brereton, and TAG Heuer’s General Manager, Philip Richards, to mount the challenge with him.
In front of a large and spirited crowd, each of the three challengers made a valiant attempt to ace the 161m par 3, 12th hole at Huntingdale and prove their ability to not crack under pressure.
Despite a supreme effort by Warnie and his team, and vocal support from the madding crowd, the hole-in-one and million dollar prize were to prove elusive on the day.
Warnie’s efforts, however, did not go unrewarded with TAG Heuer generously donating $20,000 to The Shane Warne Foundation.
TAG Heuer’s General Manager for Australia, Philip Richards, congratulated Warnie and Brereton for taking part in the challenge. “If determination alone could achieve a hole-in-one, the outcome would have been very different. Nonetheless, TAG Heuer is thrilled to support The Shane Warne Foundation with a $20,000 donation and we salute Warnie and Dermott for putting themselves to the ultimate pressure test for a great cause.”
David Rollo, Vice President Director of Golf at IMG, the Australian Masters owner and promoter added: "TAG Heuer has been an outstanding partner of the Masters for the last decade and this was a terrific initiative to support our official charity partner in The Shane Warne Foundation.”
TAG Heuer is proud to continue its longstanding association with Australian golf in its role as Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the Australian Masters.
