Here are four proofs on how well the american team started 2017.
Red and black all over the world
The season just began but BMC has already run all across the Earth. Australian Championships, Tour Under Down in Oceania, Dubai Tour in Middle-East, Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in Europe… BMC makes it count and spreads its riders on worldwide races. An amount of events which could depreciate the quality of them but does not - most of the competitions the american team goes on are part of the UCI World Tour.
The results are already here
Racing is a good start. But winning is the true goal. On this early 2017 the hit list of the black and red cycling team is rather well-filled. With two titles on the Australian Championships, several stage victories and a win on the overall rankings of Tour Down Under, BMC weighs amongst the top teams. As a matter of fact, they gained a lot of attention during the first stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana: a team time trial won by… BMC. Led by Jim Ochowicz, the team is now second on the UCI ranking.
The leaders are ready
If BMC keeps having good results on the beginning of the season, it has a lot to do with the leaders of the team being genuine models. Rohan Dennis is the new time trial Australian champion. Richie Porte won the Tour Down Under. Sprinter Greg Van Avermeat is getting stronger, his performance during the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana was noticed by his peers. Now, each in their specialty will have to get the team through its goals: a victory on one of the spring’s classics and a victory on one of the three major Tour.
Renewal is coming
In order to pursue their quest to glory, BMC team’s managers has renewed a part of the team at the interseason. Some very valuable team-mates has come to reinforce the ranks, such as the Irish Nicolas Roche and the Swiss man Martin Elmiger. Also, BMC plans on promising riders. For the Tour of Oman, the American formation has trusted a certain Kilian Frankiny. The 23 years old climber got everything it takes to crush the peloton. But he still has to make his proof. With the black and red jersey on his shoulder he will be very expected this year. One question now stands: will he pull his team all the way up?
The season of BMC continues with two races in the south of France, then in Middle-East at the Abu Dhabi Tour.
