The Island

What is THE ISLAND made of?

Sometime in the mid-21st century - Somewhere in one of the many contained and controlled utopian facilities that house the inhabitants of Earth - Someone is hoping to be chosen to go to ‘The Island’, the last uncontaminated spot on the planet.  Until they become suspicious that the supposed “perfect life” could actually be a “perfect lie”...  What if these fortunate ones were human clones whose only purpose was to fulfill rich sponsors’ dreams of longevity?

THE ISLAND, a co-production between DreamWorks Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, promises to be one of the hottest releases of the Summer!

Directed by Michael Bay, of ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Pearl Harbor’ fame, this is a futuristic action thriller that has you on the edge of your seat all the way until the end.  Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Moulin Rouge...) and Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, The Horse Whisperer, ...)play the main characters, who manage a daring escape to the unknown outside world, setting off an unprecedented manhunt that has them racing desperately for their lives.

The film production chose TAG Heuer as the watch manufacturer of reference in this near future.  Lincoln Six-Echo (played by Ewan McGregor) wears a black-faced Monza chronograph throughout the film, perfectly embodying the upscale nature his “original” has in the real life.

The director of the institute, Dr. Merrick (played by Sean Bean), is seen wearing a Kirium F1; and the head of the security team, Albert Laurent (played by Djimon Hounsou) who leads the manhunt, wears a prototype of the highly anticipated Monaco Sixty-Nine – a unique two-faced watch that helps to portray the duality of his character...
