From Hollywood to Le Mans, a new success for the Monaco40 years after being worn by Steve McQueen as a tribute to the Swiss driver and TAG Heuer ambassador Jo Siffert in the film Le Mans, the emblematic Monaco chronograph won the Le Mans 24 hour race for the first time thanks to Peugeot Sport.
On Sunday 14 June, on the legendary 24 hour circuit at Le Mans, Marc Gene (Spain), Alexander Wurz (Austria) and David Brabham (Australia, son of 3 times F1 World Champion Jack Brabham) drove their Diesel Powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAP n°9 on the highest step of the podium. Peugeot is celebrating a historic one-two victory, with Sebastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny and poleman Stephane Sarrazin reaching 2nd place. The 6 drivers proudly wore on their wrists the famous Monaco as well as the TAG Heuer shield on their racing overall. Already a partner of the Scuderia Ferrari in the 70s at Le Mans, TAG Heuer has been committed to racing alongside Peugeot Sport since 2007, when the team decided to go back to competition in Endurance races. On top of being the teams official watch and timekeeper, the partnership includes TAG Heuer avant-garde eyewear, with the night vision, a new product developed by drivers for drivers. Mark Gene did cross the finish line wearing optical eyewear under his helmet. From 1969 to 2009, there has been a unique love story between Le Mans and TAG Heuer.
