International Sale Warranty

Your TAG Heuer has been made in the authentic tradition of Swiss watchmaking.
It has been individually tested to check its water-resistance and ensure that it is in perfect working order. Nevertheless, your watch is covered by an international warranty against any defect in manufacturing, valid for two years from date of purchase.

An international warranty card should be located in the warranty booklet accompanying your watch, duly completed by the authorized TAG Heuer dealer, indicating the date and location of the purchase.
Issued by TAG Heuer SA, this warranty is accepted by all TAG Heuer Official Service Centers in over 100 countries around the world, provided that:the International warranty card has been signed and dated at the time of purchase by an authorized TAG Heuer dealer;the card is provided with the watch when it is sent for repair; the serial number engraved on the case is clearly legible, and no part of the underside of the original case or the original number is missing or has been modified, falsified, altered, replaced, erased, defaced or made illegible.Failure to respect these above conditions renders all rights resulting from the TAG Heuer International warranty null and void.

Only TAG Heuer SA or its Official Service Centers will decide at its sole discretion, to repair or replace any TAG Heuer timepiece under this International warranty.A number of recommendations are given under the heading “Advice for your timepiece” for the use and maintenance of your TAG Heuer watch; please read them carefully as the warranty will become invalid in the event of incorrect use or treatment. In particular, ensure that the crown is fully screwed down after adjusting for day, date or time to ensure water-resistance.
Damage resulting from service provided anywhere other than at a TAG Heuer Official Service Center is not covered and shall void the warranty. The limited warranty does not cover bracelets, crystals or batteries, or any damage to the case or movement caused by moisture that might have entered the watch as a result of improper handling, nor does it apply, on a more general basis, if there is evidence of misuse or abuse. This warranty replaces any warranties implied by some countries’ local law, including the implied warranty of merchantability, which are disclaimed.

Some countries’ local law may not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. Maintenance Operations

Just as in a car, every product that contains a mechanism requires a full service after a certain amount of time. We cannot give an exact recommendation for the frequency of maintenance because this depends on the model, the climate, and the way an owner uses the watch.

As a general rule, a quartz watch should be given a full service approximately every 3 - 6 years.

In strong sunshine

When Traveling

• We recommend avoiding direct exposure to the sun’s rays because the temperature of the watch can rise above 60°C (140°F). This risks damaging the movement.
• Prolonged exposure to Ultra Violet rays can alter the colors of some parts (leather strap, dial etc.)

When you clean your watch

Every Day

To maintain the aesthetic appeal of your watch and keep it in good working order, you should clean it regularly as follows:

  • First make sure the crown is fully screwed down.
  • If the seals in your TAG Heuer watch have been changed and tested at a TAG Heuer Official Service Centre within the last 12 months, then you can use a soft brush with slightly soapy water to clean the case and bracelet, then rinse it with clear water and dry it with a soft cloth. If your watch is fitted with a strap made from fabric, leather, alligator or python skin, take care not to get it wet
  • If you have any doubts about the water-resistance of your watch, simply clean it with a soft brush then dry it.
  • After each exposure to salt water, rinse the watch carefully in fresh water then dry it.
  • Avoid contact with chemical products (solvents, detergents, cosmetics, etc.) They may damage the bracelet and the water-resistance gaskets.

Straps in fabric, leather and alligator or python skin

Avoid all contact with water (baths, showers etc). However, despite your care and attention, leather is a natural, living material and its color will fade a little over time.

In cold conditions

When Traveling

When in a cold environment we recommend keeping your watch on your wrist so that it remains close to body temperature. Below 0°C (32°F) the lubricating oil in the mechanism can lose fluidity, which risks damaging the movement.

When you are not wearing your watch

Every Day

  • Watches are affected by magnetic fields. Avoid leaving them near any equipment that can create a strong magnetic field such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, etc. They can affect the performance of the watch.
  • If you do not regularly wear your automatic watch, then it is advisable to purchase an automatic watch winder to ensure that the lubricating oil in the movement remains fluid.
  • Do not leave a flat battery in a quartz watch. Regularly check that a quartz watch is running. If it has stopped or the EOL system is activated (certain models are equipped with an End Of Life system to inform you about the condition of the battery; the second hand will then advance 4 seconds at a time), please contact your TAG Heuer Official Service Center.
When you are not wearing your watch Every Day

When you are not wearing your watch

When you wind your watch

Every Day

• When an automatic mechanical watch is not worn for a certain amount of time, its power reserve (42 – 48 hours depending on the model) is exhausted and the watch stops.
• To restart it, unscrew the crown if necessary (depending on the model) and wind the movement manually by turning the crown 30- 40 times. This will give it a sufficient power reserve to function normally.
• A non-automatic mechanical watch has to be wound every day, winding is complete when you feel the crown resist. Your TAG Heuer is then wound to the maximum. It is important not to force the crown of a hand-wound watch to avoid damaging the mechanism.

In humid environments

When Traveling

  • First make sure your watch has passed a water-resistance check during the last 12 months at a TAG Heuer Official Service Centre.
  • Check that the crown is fully pushed in (and screwed down, depending on the model) against the case in order to preserve its water-resistance.
  • We recommend that you prevent the leather strap coming into contact with water to avoid deformation or discoloration.
  • For frequent or prolonged use in water, we recommend a metal bracelet or a rubber strap.
  • After each exposure to salt water, rinse the watch carefully in fresh water then dry it.

The limits of restoration and maintenance

The limits of restoration and maintenance

We always do our utmost to restore a vintage watch to which we know there will be strong sentimental attachment.

Nevertheless, we draw your attention that depending on both the age and the condition of your timepiece, especially its movement, our watchmakers are sometimes limited by the fact that some of its components are no longer produced.

Finally, if the watch is more than 30 years old, its water-resistance cannot be guaranteed.

For gold-plated watches

To Avoid

Plating is the galvanic deposition of a fine coat of gold on certain components of the watch. This coat may be worn down by friction or by contact with hard rough surfaces.

Avoid rubbing against abrasive surfaces.

For the Anti - Reflective coating

To Avoid

The anti-reflective coating is a fine layer deposited on the crystal glass that ensures optimal readability of the dial by eliminating reflected light. This sensitive coating may be affected by friction or contact with hard, rough surfaces and can look like a scratch on the crystal glass.

Avoid shocks and harsh treatment.

Shocks

To Avoid

Avoid all violent shocks such as dropping the watch. Apart from damaging its appearance this can cause premature wear in materials and components which may affect the performance of the watch.

Temperature

To Avoid

  • Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures: above 60°C (140°F) or below 0°C (32°F).
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes. A sharp change of temperature can cause a slight amount of condensation under the crystal glass of your watch. This will disappear in a few minutes and does not affect the performance of the watch. If the condensation persists, please contact your TAG Heuer Official Service Centre as soon as possible.

Magnetism

  • Avoid leaving your watch close to equipment that can produce a strong magnetic field, such as speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, etc. They can affect the performance of the watch.
  • For your information, here is an extract from tests our laboratories carried out using common objects in daily life:
  • A magnetic field of less than 60 Gauss (unit of measurement of magnetic fields) will not affect your watch. Any stronger fields may disturb its performance.
  • As a general rule, it is advisable to keep your watch more than 5cm away from such equipment.
