Worn by the legendary Steve McQueen in the Hollywood racing film, Le Mans, the world’s first automatic chronograph continues to set trends. With its daring square case and rule-breaking technology, the Monaco is a contemporary classic.

In 1969, TAG Heuer shook up watchmaking tradition by creating the first-ever square water-resistant case. Driven by the celebrated Chronomatic Calibre 11, the Monaco was also the world’s first square automatic chronograph. It was only one year old when Steve McQueen chose to wear it in Le Mans, the famous car racing film, and on the wrist of this major star it soon became an icon. Forty years later, the Monaco series is a truly exceptional collection, a symbol of daring and excellence. Today, TAG Heuer continues to break all the rules with the revolutionary Monaco V4, the world’s first timepiece with a belt-driven transmission.

Double anti-reflective treatment for better readability

All our watches are fitted with sapphire crystal. This is cut from a polished slice of solid sapphire that has been created by the fusion and crystallization of alumina. Sapphire is so hard that only a diamond can scratch it.
C.O.S.C chronometer for ultimate precision certified by the Swiss Office of Chronometry

Each model that is officially certified as a chronometer
is given a booklet and a C.O.S.C. card by TAG Heuer. The
individual number printed on the card corresponds to
the number engraved on the movement certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Control.
Each of these movements is a unique object that has been
produced with the greatest possible care and is an authentic
masterpiece of watchmaking.
